Mannheim's most beautiful View: along the River Neckar

This walk is a real treat, especially at sunset, when the red-golden sun is reflected in the Neckar.

In summer, the meadow that hugs the banks of the Neckar is a popular meeting place for Mannheim residents. This is understandable, because the view from the wide, green expanse could not be more beautiful or authentic to the city of squares. To the right, the colourful containers and cranes of Mannheim harbour can be glimpsed in the distance; to the left, Mannheim’s telecommunications tower reaches up into the blue sky, while the famous triple skyscrapers that dominate Mannheim’s skyline rise in the background.

From the Alter Messplatz, it’s just a few steps down to the riverbank. Following the paved path, you turn left after a while and walk up to the Collini footbridge. From there, you have a wonderful view over Mannheim and the Neckar and can let the fresh, clear spring breezes caress your face. Now you have a choice: either continue your walk on the other side of the Neckar directly along the bank or return to the Neckarstadt side. Whichever option you choose, the route stretches for kilometres until you eventually reach Mannheim’s telecommunications tower. This walk is a real treat, especially at sunset, when the red-golden sun is reflected in the Neckar.
